Origin: Yerba mate in bags or mate cocido - as this way of drinking yerba mate is popularly known in Argentina - is a different and practical way of enjoying yerba mate, which was originally prepared with loose yerba leaves. Made with 100% pure yerba mate leaf, it has an intense and rich flavor.

In 1965 Establecimiento Las Mar as facilitated its preparation and consumption by developing yerba mate in bags. Its elaboration is exactly the same as that of yerba mate; the only difference is in the milling: yerba mate leaves are exclusively processed and classified there, eliminating the sticks and leaf dust.

This special selection results in a crystalline mate of excellent quality. To produce yerba mate in bags, we purchase green leaf from the Rainforest Alliance Certified producer. From that moment on, we have the chain of custody of that green leaf; we dry it, store it, grind it and pack it.

In turn, we ensure that the yerba mate we buy is traceable to Rainforest Alliance Certified. The Rainforest Alliance is an international nonprofit organization that works with local partner groups to develop and promote sustainable standards in agriculture, forestry and tourism.

These standards protect the environment and promote the well-being of workers, their families and their communities. By choosing products that carry the Rainforest Alliance Certified label, consumers can support a healthy environment and help improve the quality of life in local communities.
