Red Matta Indian Rice, also known as Kerala Matta Rice or Rosematta rice, is a traditional variety of parboiled rice grown primarily in the Palakkad region of Kerala and parts of Karnataka, India. It is easily recognizable by its reddish-brown outer layer, which retains the bran and is rich in nutrients like fiber, magnesium, and iron.
This rice has a distinct earthy flavor and a slightly chewy texture, making it ideal for South Indian dishes such as curries, sambar, and stews.
